Tower Tours & Teas 2023

Once a year, weather dependant, we open up the church tower to visitors to see the great view from the top.

On the way up, about 90 steps, visitors can stop off to catch their breath and see the workings of the clock and also to try their hand at ringing the bells.

Upwards again with a quick stop to see the bells, all five of them, then a final few steps and out onto the roof.

The visibility this year was good although there was a keen breeze blowing.

Also, as an added attraction this year, our tour guides led by Raymond, created a ‘teddy zip wire’. Even if the narrow, spiral stairs were too much, teddy could be winched up to the top of the 22m tower then released to travel downwards at some speed to the bottom whilst proud owners looked on.

The Saturday Special group joined us in the afternoon and the children also enjoyed watching their favourite toy complete the journey.

Following each tour visitors enjoyed home made cake and a cuppa.

Special thanks go to Raymond, Judi, Pete, Dave and Rosemary for a very successful day.

Although numbers were down on last year, we managed to raise £145.00 for the general maintenance of the building.

we are holding an ‘OPEN TOWER & TEDDY BEAR ZIP WIRE’ day.

Check out the turret clock, ringing chamber on the way to the top.

A perfect opportunity to view the village from a different angle.

Bring along your favourite Teddy for a free zip wire trip.

Tours will be every hour from 10.00am and the last tour will be at 5.00pm.

The cost of the tour will be £5 per person.

Don’t like heights? No worry, join us for tea & cake instead.

Please note: There are a lot of spiral steps to climb, so this tour is not suitable for children under 12 or people with walking difficulties, heart problems or respiratory problems. Tours will be subject to the weather.
